Aircon cooling coil repairs on the GLE / ML

The cooling coil absorbs heat from cabin air so the vents can blow cold. A leak may show up as weak cooling, repeated loss of refrigerant or a damp, musty smell. Leaving the system low can make the compressor work harder and allow moisture into the circuit, turning a contained leak into wider damage.
We start with an XENTRY scan, then pressure-test the aircon circuit and trace dye to confirm whether the cooling coil is leaking. We document the finding and give an honest quote for the failed coil and affected seals, not the whole aircon system, before work starts.
When repair may be needed: Coil replacement follows a confirmed leak or blockage found on a pressure or dye test, not age. Reduced cooling has several possible causes, so the coil is condemned only once the test points to it.
Maintenance and early warning signs: Change the cabin filter on schedule and keep the aircon drain clear. Owners often tell us about a musty smell at start-up; in our experience it comes from the coil staying wet after the engine is cut, and basement parking makes it worse. Switching the compressor off shortly before you park and letting the fan run until the air is no longer cold helps the coil dry out. Early signs: that smell, water in the passenger footwell, cooling that fades over weeks.
