1. Slipping or flaring. The engine revs climb but forward motion doesn't match. The gearbox isn't holding positive drive through changes or across a CVT ratio band. Worn clutch packs or a worn belt are the usual cause.

2. Shuddering or juddering. A vibration under light acceleration or when pulling away. It can be torque-converter related, clutch-pack wear, or pulley and belt wear in CVT cars.

3. Delayed or rough gear changes. Shifts that feel late, heavy, or different from how they used to feel. The gearbox is losing hydraulic precision, often from solenoid wear or clutch-pack degradation.

4. Warning lights. Any transmission-related light needs a proper scan with brand-specific equipment, not a generic reader and not a code clear.

5. Limp mode. The control module has restricted the gearbox to protect it. Don't drive through it. Stop and arrange a diagnostic check, because overriding it causes the damage the system is trying to prevent.

6. Noise or a fluid leak. Whining, grinding, or clunking at a specific speed points to internal wear. A reddish or brown leak means seal degradation, and low fluid accelerates wear fast.
