Highest Rated. We fix the valve body fault, not replace your whole gearbox.
Harsh, delayed or erratic shifts? Limp mode, slipping or rev flare between gears? We diagnose the real fault with dealer-level tools and fix the valve body, so you don't pay for a whole gearbox you don't need.
Dealer-level diagnostics (PIWIS, ISTA, Xentry, ODIS) pinpoint the real fault before any work begins. We fix the actual fault, not the whole gearbox, so you keep your own unit and pay far less than a full rebuild.
We fit properly reconditioned or OEM-grade valve bodies matched to your exact transmission, never an unknown used unit pulled from a scrapyard car.
Free honest diagnosis and free towing if you're stuck in limp mode. Spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee. No hard sell, no obligation.
Took my Audi A4 in for a gearbox mechatronic problem and 1 Car Service Workshop sorted it out without any drama. The car was jerking in traffic and throwing errors, but after the repair the shifts came back smooth. They diagnosed it quickly and kept me updated so I wasn't left guessing. Fair pricing and the car feels right again.
Had my Macan’s mechatronic repaired recently and the difference is clear. Before the fix, the car was jerking in stop go traffic and the shifts felt confused, like it couldn’t decide what gear it wanted. Thought it was going to get worse fast. They ran a proper diagnostic, showed me the fault codes and the worn components, and gave a straight quote. No random add ons. Turnaround was a few days and the car felt normal as soon as I drove off. Shifts are smooth again and it pulls properly.
Brought my Audi A4 in due to jerking and transmission warning lights. The team quickly diagnosed a faulty mechatronic unit and explained the issue in clear terms. Quoted price was fair and the job was completed within the stated time. The gearbox shifting is now smooth. They also shared useful maintenance tips so I can avoid the same problem. Good workmanship and transparent service. I would return for future servicing.
I had my Audi A4's mechatronics unit repaired here and the service was well handled. The staff knew their stuff and explained the root cause, repair steps, and costs upfront so there were no surprises. The car was ready when they said it would be and the gear shifts feel smooth again. Overall, a competent and trustworthy workshop for Audi gearbox and mechatronics work.

We're Singapore's best valve body specialists. We diagnose and repair valve body faults on automatic and dual-clutch transmissions, for continental and Japanese cars, using dealer-level tools so we fix the actual fault, not your whole gearbox.
Dealer-level scan plus a fluid check that pinpoints the valve body as the fault before a single bolt is turned. No guesswork.
The faulty unit replaced with a properly reconditioned valve body matched to your exact transmission. We fix the fault, not your whole gearbox.
We reset the gearbox adaptive learning, then road-test across conditions so the shifts are right before you collect. Done properly.
Fresh correct-spec fluid and a new filter fitted as standard with every valve body job. Spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee.
This is one of the most misdiagnosed transmission faults in Singapore. A car goes in for a gearbox check, the workshop says the gearbox is failing, and the quote comes back for a full overhaul or a replacement unit. Thousands of dollars later the problem is solved, but in plenty of cases the full overhaul was never needed.
The gearbox internals were fine. The clutch packs were fine. What was actually failing was the valve body, the hydraulic control unit that tells the gearbox what to do and when to do it. Sort out the valve body and the gearbox behaves the way it should again, at a fraction of the cost and downtime of a full rebuild.
We're Singapore's best valve body specialists, and we don't do guesswork. We diagnose the fault properly with dealer-level tools, fix what is actually wrong, and tell you straight whether your car needs a valve body repair, a full gearbox overhaul, or something else. Drive down for a free check, no obligation. You can spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee.
Most owners never hear of the valve body until it causes a problem. It is the hydraulic control unit of your automatic transmission, a precision-machined aluminium block about the size of a large book, full of channels, valves and solenoids. Transmission fluid flows through it under pressure, and the valve body uses that pressure to engage clutch packs, select gears, control shift timing, and manage the torque converter lockup clutch.
Every gear change, every gear held under load, every time the lockup clutch engages on the expressway, the valve body is doing the work. It is one of the busiest parts in the whole transmission. Inside are solenoids, which are electrically operated valves that open and close on command from the transmission control unit, plus pressure regulators, shift valves and check balls that keep the hydraulic pressures exactly right.
After years of use and hundreds of thousands of cycles, these parts wear. Solenoids stick or develop electrical faults. Valve bores wear slightly oversized and let fluid bypass when they should seal. Varnish from degraded fluid clogs the passages. Pressure control turns inconsistent, and the gearbox starts behaving erratically, not because the gearbox itself is worn out, but because the part telling it what to do is no longer working correctly.
Left alone, a valve body fault does not stay put. Wrong hydraulic pressures stress the clutch packs, speed up internal wear, and can eventually cause the broader damage that does need a full overhaul. Catch it at the right time and you avoid the much larger job.
Valve body symptoms are specific, and they often get blamed on the whole gearbox.
1. Harsh, jerky or erratic shifts. Changes that feel aggressive or inconsistent, fine one moment and rough the next. That inconsistency points to hydraulic irregularity rather than mechanical wear.
2. Slipping between gears. A brief loss of drive or a flare in revs during a shift that should be clean. The valve body is not holding enough pressure to keep the right clutch pack engaged.
3. Delayed engagement. You select Drive or Reverse and there is a long pause before the car moves, or it moves tentatively, as if the gearbox is not committed to the gear.
4. Stuck in one gear or limp mode. A valve body fault can lock the transmission into a single gear, either as a failsafe or because a hydraulic circuit is stuck. This can look like limp mode caused by other faults, which is exactly why proper diagnosis matters.
5. Fault codes with no obvious mechanical cause. The control unit logs solenoid, pressure or shift-quality codes. A generic scan shows the codes but not the source. Brand-specific tools confirm whether the valve body is to blame.
6. Shudder under light load. Similar to torque converter lockup shudder but at different speeds and loads, because the lockup solenoid lives inside the valve body on most designs. It is easily mistaken for a torque converter fault until the full picture is checked.
Most valve body jobs are done within 1 to 3 days. We confirm the timeline once we have diagnosed your car.
This is the most important question in any transmission fault, and the one most workshops get wrong in one direction or the other.
Some overdiagnose and quote a full overhaul when the valve body alone is causing the symptoms, so you pay for a rebuild you didn't need. Others underdiagnose and swap the valve body on a car whose internals are already worn, so the hydraulic fault clears but the wear keeps showing up, and you end up needing the overhaul you thought you had dodged.
Getting it right means reading both the valve body fault codes and the physical condition of the gearbox internals. Our diagnosis covers both before we recommend anything. If the valve body is the primary fault and the internals are sound, we recommend a valve body repair. If the fault has already caused clutch pack wear or other damage, we explain why a full overhaul is the honest call. And if the internals show wear unrelated to the valve body, we lay out both options and let you decide. You get the full picture before you commit to anything.
Valve body faults turn up across most cars with a conventional automatic, and on some dual-clutch designs. These are the ones we handle most.
Mercedes-Benz. The 7G-Tronic and 9G-Tronic across the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC and GLE. Valve body solenoid faults are a common cause of the harsh shifts and delayed engagement owners report. Diagnosed with Mercedes XENTRY.
BMW. ZF 6HP and 8HP units across the 1 Series through 7 Series and the X range. The 8HP in particular has a well-known history of valve body shift-quality issues at higher mileage. Diagnosed with BMW ISTA.
Audi and Volkswagen. Conventional ZF automatics in the A4, A5, A6 and Q7 and various VW models. DSG dual-clutch units combine the valve body and electronics into one assembly, which we handle as a mechatronic unit repair rather than a standard valve body job.
Volvo. Aisin-Warner and ZF automatics across the XC90, XC60, S60, S80, V60 and V70. Solenoid wear and pressure faults develop as mileage climbs.
Jaguar and Land Rover. ZF 8HP units across the Discovery, Range Rover, Defender and the Jaguar XF, XE and F-Pace. Valve body codes are a frequent cause of shift complaints before any internal wear.
Japanese makes. Conventional automatics from Toyota, Honda, Mazda's SKYACTIV-Drive and Nissan all develop valve body solenoid wear that presents as shift-quality changes, usually a more contained fix than the symptoms first suggest.
Not sure if a valve body repair applies to your car? WhatsApp us your make, model, year and symptoms and we'll give you a straight answer.
A valve body is a precision component with tolerances measured in fractions of a millimetre. The solenoid bores, valve bores and pressure channels all have to be in spec for it to work. The reconditioned units we fit are refurbished in facilities built for the job: each unit is stripped, wear surfaces are measured, bores are machined back to spec or replaced, solenoids are tested and replaced as needed, new seals and filters go in, and the assembled unit is bench-tested before it leaves.
That is a different standard from a workshop trying to clean and reseal a valve body on the bench, and a very different standard from a used unit pulled from a scrapyard car of unknown history and wear.
We get the diagnosis right first. Valve body faults are regularly misread because the symptoms overlap with other transmission problems and generic scanners don't have the detail. We use dealer-level tools (PIWIS, ISTA, Xentry, ODIS) and check both the fault codes and the physical condition before recommending anything.
We fix the fault, not your whole gearbox. When the valve body is the problem and the internals are sound, we fix the valve body and you keep your own unit, at a fraction of the cost of a rebuild. And if the fault has caused broader damage, we say so and explain why. You get an honest read of the whole situation, not the answer that bills the most.
Transparent pricing. A full itemised quote before work starts, and what we quote is what you pay. We diagnose first, for free, so you know the scope before you spend a cent. Spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee.
One workshop for the whole job. For the bigger jobs we also handle the full transmission overhaul under one roof, so you deal with one trusted workshop either way.
Over 2,000 transmission jobs done, and the highest rating in Singapore. We've seen the fault patterns across European, Japanese and Korean cars, and valve body faults are something we identify and fix regularly.
1 Car Service is Singapore's best valve body repair specialist. We replace your faulty valve body with a properly reconditioned unit matched to your transmission, fitted alongside a full fluid and filter service. We then reset the control unit's adaptive learning where applicable and road-test the car to confirm the shifts are right before you collect it.
That comes down to the diagnostic scan and the condition of the transmission fluid and internals. If the valve body is the fault and the internals are sound, a valve body repair fixes it. If the fault has already caused internal wear, a full overhaul is the honest call. We check both and explain which one your car actually needs before any work begins.
Most valve body jobs are completed within 1 to 3 days. We confirm the exact timeline once we've diagnosed your car and matched the correct reconditioned unit to your transmission.
Common signs are harsh or jerky shifts, slipping or a rev flare between gears, a delay engaging Drive or Reverse, the car stuck in one gear or limp mode, a shudder under light load, and transmission fault codes with no obvious mechanical cause. If you notice these, it's worth getting it checked.
Yes, the symptoms overlap. The lockup solenoid sits inside the valve body, so a fault can mimic a torque converter shudder, and on DSG cars the valve body and electronics are combined into a mechatronic unit. Brand-specific diagnostics tell us the real source before anything is replaced.
If the valve body is the cause and the gearbox internals are still in good condition, replacing it with a properly reconditioned unit and resetting the adaptive learning restores correct shift quality. We road-test the car across a range of conditions to confirm this before handover.
