What the owner reported
The owner was on a long drive when the trouble started: a gearbox fault flashed up on the dash, the kind that warns of a possible loss of reverse gear with drive still available.
Then the PDK began overheating, and the overheating kept returning on longer drives. The clue was clear: the PDK was getting hot and protecting itself. The owner suspected the gearbox fluid was low, possibly from a small leak at the oil pan, and asked us to investigate before spending money.
