Car Repair Costs in Singapore: The Numbers From 60 Documented Jobs
Case-study prices last updated: October 2026. New documented jobs are added weekly. Make-level figures cover January 2023 to September 2026.
Most workshops will not tell you what anything costs until you are standing at the counter. We publish ours. Every row in the case tables below comes from a documented job at our Sin Ming workshop, written up as a case study. Where the job record has the exact bill, that figure is shown; where the record was approximate, the figure is shown as about that amount, word for word from the case. Click any car name to read exactly what was done to that car.
The honest answer: how much does car repair cost in Singapore?
It depends on what failed, and anyone who quotes you a firm number before diagnosing the car is guessing. On this page, a documented emergency fuel system clean cost $250, and most full gearbox overhauls start from about $2,000. Gearbox diagnosis is always free, every quote is honest and itemised before any work begins, and major repairs can be paid in instalments via Atome, Grab and Shopee.
Prices in the case tables appear exactly as published on each case study. Some figures state before GST, nett or with GST; where a figure does not say, the tax treatment is not specified in the write-up, so confirm it in your own itemised quote. Some visits bundled more than one job into a single bill: the Job column shows the headline service, and the linked case study lists everything the figure covered.

Each cell is the median price of that repair's part lines on one bill (several matched lines on the same bill are added together), GST included, from priced bills at 1 Car Service since January 2023, the latest from September 2026. Other work on the same bill is not counted, and a job that carries a separate labour line shows the part lines only, so a cell is not always the whole repair. A blank cell means fewer than 5 priced bills for that make. A statistic is not a quote.

Oil and coolant leaks
Leak repairs are scope-driven and start from about $700 when one gasket or seal is weeping; the bill follows how many seals have actually gone. That is why we strip, inspect and photograph before quoting: you pay for the seals that are actually leaking, not a blanket reseal.

Suspension, brakes and steering
Wear-and-tear chassis work starts from about $485 for a suspension lower arm with ball joint, per side before GST. Several rows below bundle a major service with the repair, which is usually the cheaper way to do it: the car is already up on the hoist.

Electrical, sensors and control units
Electrical faults are diagnosis-led, so the parts bill varies widely with the component that failed. We read the car with the right diagnostic system for its marque first, so you replace the part that failed, not a list of guesses. Electrical repairs carry a warranty of at least 6 months; on reconditioned major components, such as a hybrid battery, the warranty is the component's own, as stated in the case study.

Servicing, inspections and one-off saves
The cheapest jobs on this page are often the ones that prevent the most expensive ones. A pre-purchase inspection, complimentary with a $500 servicing credit (before GST), can save you from buying someone else's problem. What actually moves the price
Four things decide most repair bills in Singapore. The make and model: premium marques need dearer parts and more careful labour. The type of unit: a CVT is typically more expensive to overhaul than a conventional automatic, and a DSG fault often needs its own targeted scope. The extent of the damage: coolant in a gearbox, or a leak left for a year, turns one repair into three. And the parts grade quoted: we state whether a quote uses new OEM-grade parts or quality reconditioned units, in writing. That is also why the honest quote comes after diagnosis, not before.
