Engine Mounting Replacement in Singapore, Vibration Fixed Right

Singapore's Highest Rated workshop for engine and gearbox mount replacement. We confirm the mount is the cause before you pay for one, fit quality OEM-grade mounts, and the shake stops.

Shaking at the traffic light, a judder when you move off, a clunk when you shift into D or R? Very often that is a worn engine or gearbox mounting, not the engine itself. We road-test, check every mount on the lift and quote honestly before any work.

We service all makes and models

Car brands we service: Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Jaguar, Lexus, Toyota, and more

Why Singapore drivers trust us with their engine mountings

We check the cheap thing first

A rumble and a shake can get diagnosed as an engine problem elsewhere. We road-test and load the engine against the brake to watch each mount move, so you find out whether it is a mount before anyone talks about bigger work.

Honest quote before any work

You see the cracked or collapsed mount, photographed, and get an itemised price before we start. If one mount is worn and the others are fine, that is what we quote.

Quality mounts, road-tested

Quality OEM-grade mounts, hydraulic where the car was built with them, fitted as a set where the wear calls for it, then road-tested until the vibration is gone. Spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee.

The honest answer: How much does engine mounting replacement cost in Singapore?

It depends on the car and on how many mounts are worn, which is why we road-test and inspect every mount before quoting, and you approve the exact price first. Documented jobs from our workshop include a Mercedes-Benz GLC engine mount and gearbox mount replaced with original Mercedes parts at $830 nett all-in, and a Mitsubishi Attrage three-piece engine mount set at $550 nett as one line of a larger job. A continental car with fluid-filled hydraulic mounts usually costs more than a simple rubber mount on a Japanese compact, and a car that needs both engine mounts plus the gearbox mount naturally costs more than a single mount. WhatsApp us the symptom and your car model, and our team will tell you what it likely is.

That Shake at the Traffic Light Is Often a Worn Engine Mounting, Not Your Imagination

Your engine and gearbox do not bolt straight to the car. They sit on several mountings, blocks of rubber, or rubber around a chamber of fluid on most continental cars, that hold the drivetrain in place and soak up its vibration before it reaches you. When a mount is healthy you feel almost nothing at idle. When one is worn, the engine's own shake comes straight through the body.

Mounts do not last forever. The rubber hardens and cracks with age and heat, a hydraulic mount can split and lose its fluid, and engine oil leaking onto a mount softens the rubber until it collapses. The first sign is a buzz at idle in D with the aircon running. Then a judder when you move off, a clunk into gear or reverse, and a knock from the bay when you accelerate hard, because the engine is now rocking on its mounts instead of being held.

Leave it and the rocking engine starts working on everything attached to it: driveshafts and CV joints, exhaust joints, coolant hoses and wiring. On some cars a fully collapsed mount lets the engine sit on the subframe. A mount is a small job. What it damages when it fails is not.

How We Confirm It Is the Mounting Before You Pay for One

Vibration has plenty of possible causes, and we have seen a rumble get called an engine problem elsewhere. So we start with the cheap, likely cause and prove it.

First, a road test to feel exactly what you feel: idle, moving off, gear changes, hard acceleration. Then, with the bonnet open and the brakes held, our team loads the engine in D and R and watches each mount. A worn mount lets the engine lift or rock far more than it should, and we show you that movement. On the lift we inspect every mount for cracked or separated rubber, a hydraulic mount weeping fluid, and an engine or gearbox sitting lower than it should. Where a car runs electronically switched mounts we also read the fault memory with dealer-level tools (XENTRY, ISTA or ODIS, depending on the make).

Then you get photos of the worn mount and an itemised quote. On the Mercedes-Benz GLC that came in with a vibration, the engine mount and gearbox mount were confirmed worn on the lift, hardened and visibly cracked, and replaced with original Mercedes parts at $830 nett all-in. A Mercedes-Benz GLA had its cracked mount found on the lift during a major service, confirmed by inspection and photographed for the owner.

Hydraulic and Switchable Mounts on Mercedes, BMW, Audi, VW and Porsche, Fitted Right

Continental cars mostly use hydraulic mounts: rubber around a chamber of fluid that damps vibration far better than a plain rubber block. They are also usually more expensive, and they fail differently. Instead of just cracking, a hydraulic mount can split and lose its fluid, after which it behaves like a very tired rubber mount. Some models go further and run electronically switched mounts that change stiffness with engine speed, and those can log a fault when they fail.

We fit quality OEM-grade hydraulic mounts where the car was built with them, never a cheaper solid mount that would send every vibration into the cabin. It is routine work on our Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche and Volvo sides. The reviews above are typical: a BMW 320i with strong vibrations at idle and in reverse, a Mercedes CLA180, an Audi A6 that was vibrating noisily, all sorted with a mount set.

One more thing we check on continental cars: why the mount failed. If engine oil has been dripping onto it, the new mount will go the same way unless the leak is fixed, so we trace that too on our engine oil leak repair side.

Engine Mounting for Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mazda and Other Japanese and Korean Cars

On many Japanese and Korean cars the mounts are simpler rubber units that are easier to reach, which usually keeps the job quicker and cheaper than a continental hydraulic mount, though it depends on the model, and some run hydraulic mounts too. The symptoms are the same: a buzz at idle, a judder moving off, a clunk into gear.

We replace mount sets on Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan, Kia and Mitsubishi regularly, with a fast turnaround, and often as part of a major service when our team spots a cracked mount on the lift. The Hyundai Elantra in our documented cases had its engine and gearbox mount set replaced alongside a major service, and went home quiet.

Engine Mounting Replacement Cost in Singapore, With Real Documented Jobs

We do not quote mounts blind, because we do not know yet how many are worn. What we can share are prices from jobs we have actually done, published in our car repair cost guide:

  • Mercedes-Benz GLC (W253): engine mount and gearbox mount replaced with original Mercedes parts, $830 nett all-in.
  • Mitsubishi Attrage: three-piece engine mount set, $550 nett, as one line of a larger gearbox job.

What moves the price is the type of mount (a hydraulic continental mount usually costs more than a plain rubber one), how many are worn (one, a pair, or engine plus gearbox), and how much has to be moved to reach them. Either way you get an itemised quote after the inspection and nothing is fitted until you approve it. You can spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee.

Replace One Mount or the Whole Set? The Honest Answer

If one mount is clearly failed and the others check out fine, we replace one. Mounts do age together though, and when one has collapsed the others have usually been carrying extra load for a while. So when two or more show cracking or sag, replacing them as a set means you are not back in a few months for the next one.

The gearbox mount deserves a mention of its own. It is a common cause of the clunk into D or R, and it is easy to miss if only the engine mounts are checked. We check it every time, and the same goes for the torque rod or dog-bone mount on transverse-engine cars.

If the judder is only on take-off and there is no vibration at idle, the cause can be inside the gearbox rather than the mounts. In that case it is our gearbox team's job, and the diagnosis is honest either way.

Why Engine Mountings Wear Faster in Singapore, and When to Check Them

Heat is the enemy of rubber, and a mount lives beside a hot engine in a hot climate. Add stop-start traffic, where the engine idles and rocks against its mounts at every light, and the humps and ramps that jolt the drivetrain, and mounts here tend to give up earlier than the mileage alone would suggest. An engine oil leak that reaches a mount shortens its life further.

There is no fixed change interval. A good rule is to have the mounts looked at whenever the car is on the lift for servicing, and straight away if the idle turns rough or a clunk appears when you shift. Catching a tired mount early is a small job. Catching it after it has taken a driveshaft or an exhaust joint with it is not.

FAQ on Engine Mounting Replacement in Singapore

Everything you need to know before you replace an engine mounting in Singapore:

What are the symptoms of a worn engine mounting?

A buzz or shake at idle that is worst in D with the aircon on, a judder when you move off, a clunk when you shift into D or reverse, a knock from the engine bay under hard acceleration, vibration through the steering wheel or seats, and an engine that visibly rocks when the throttle is blipped. A rumble that gets worse under load is another common one.

How much does engine mounting replacement cost in Singapore?

It depends on the car and how many mounts are worn. Documented jobs from our workshop include a Mercedes-Benz GLC engine mount and gearbox mount with original Mercedes parts at $830 nett all-in, and a Mitsubishi Attrage three-piece mount set at $550 nett as part of a larger job. Continental hydraulic mounts usually cost more than plain rubber ones. We inspect first and give you an itemised quote before any work, and you can spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee.

How long do engine mountings last?

There is no fixed interval. Mounts are wear items that age with heat, mileage and stop-start driving, and in Singapore they often need attention earlier than they would in a cooler climate. An oil leak reaching a mount shortens its life further. The practical answer is to have them checked whenever the car is on the lift for servicing, and immediately if a new vibration or clunk appears.

Is it dangerous to drive with a broken engine mount?

It depends on how far gone it is. A worn or cracked mount usually gives you vibration and a clunk rather than a sudden failure, but it is not something to leave. A rocking engine strains the driveshafts, CV joints, exhaust joints, hoses and wiring attached to it, and a fully collapsed mount can let the engine sit on the subframe. If the engine is visibly lurching, the clunk has turned harsh, or the car has become hard to drive, stop driving and WhatsApp us, and we can arrange a tow. The longer you drive on a worn mount, the bigger the eventual bill.

Do I need to replace all the engine mounts, or just one?

If one has failed and the others check out fine on the lift, we replace one. If two or more show cracking or sag, replacing them as a set is the honest recommendation, because the remaining old mounts have been carrying extra load and tend to follow soon after. We show you the condition of each one and quote accordingly.

What is the difference between an engine mount and a gearbox mount?

The engine mounts hold the engine; the gearbox mount holds the transmission, and together they locate the whole drivetrain. A worn gearbox mount can cause the clunk when you shift into D or reverse, and it is easy to miss if only the engine mounts are checked, so we check both every time.

What is a hydraulic engine mount, and does my car need one?

A hydraulic mount is rubber around a chamber of fluid, which damps vibration far better than a plain rubber block. Most continental cars are built with them. If your car came with hydraulic mounts we fit quality OEM-grade hydraulic mounts, not cheaper solid ones that would send the engine's vibration into the cabin.

How long does engine mounting replacement take?

Most mount sets are a fast turnaround. Cars where the subframe or other parts have to be moved to reach a mount take longer, and we tell you the realistic timing when we quote.

Can worn engine mounts damage other parts of the car?

Yes. Once the engine can rock, it works on everything attached to it: driveshafts and CV joints, exhaust flexes and hangers, coolant hoses, wiring and the aircon pipes. That is why we treat a mount as a fix-it-now job rather than a live-with-it one.

Will new engine mounts definitely fix the vibration?

If the mounts are the cause, yes, and the road test after fitting confirms it. That is exactly why we road-test and inspect before quoting rather than replacing mounts on a guess. If the vibration turns out to be a misfire, a driveshaft or something inside the gearbox, we tell you that instead and quote the real fault.

Can I pay for engine mounting replacement in instalments?

Yes. You can spread the cost with Atome, Grab or Shopee. Ask our service advisors when you receive the quote.
