Jaguar F-Pace Front Shock Absorbers and Linkage: Original Parts, Honest Advice

The owner contacted us about the Jaguar F-Pace suspension. The ride had changed, the front end was not as composed over road imperfections as it used to be, and there was some noise from the suspension on uneven surfaces.

This owner had been with us before. When the suspension quote came in, they went to check a price elsewhere and received a lower one. They came back to us anyway. The owner asked specifically about wheel alignment. We explained that a front shock absorber and linkage replacement does not disturb the alignment angles on this vehicle, because the geometry is determined by the control arms and subframe, not the strut. Alignment is needed when control arm geometry changes, not when struts and linkage are replaced. The honest answer saved the owner an unnecessary charge.

Parts were ordered for the F-Pace and the job was booked once parts arrived.

Front suspension:

• Removed both front shock absorber assemblies.
• Fitted new original front shock absorbers x2, including top mounts and dust boots, at $1,280 per side ($2,560 total).
• Replaced both front anti-roll bar linkages at $260 per side ($520 total).
• Labour for the suspension work: $240.

Battery:

• Replaced the 80Ah battery with a new unit at $380.

All parts used are original Jaguar specification. We explained to the owner why wheel alignment was not required for this specific job and did not charge for it.

The car was driven after completion to confirm the suspension feel and check the new battery was charging correctly.
