Case study: GLB180 misfuelling rescue
A Mercedes GLB180 owner accidentally put diesel into a petrol tank. In a panic, she went to the official service centre first. The quote that came back was an enormous parts list:
- Fuel tank removed, refitted and replaced
- Fuel pump, filler neck, vent lines, supply and return lines
- Charcoal canister, fuel distributor, high-pressure pump
- Injectors, sensors, low-pressure line
- Purge valve, engine oil, O-rings, clamps, hoses, filters
The main-dealer quote came to over S$15,000 before GST.
