What the owner reported
The owner brought in a Nissan Qashqai with a sound that had been getting progressively louder over the preceding weeks. Under acceleration, the engine was emitting a high-pitched whistle that the owner described as sounding exactly like a police siren.
The sound was hard to ignore and was attracting attention. The owner was right to come in quickly: a turbo that is starting to fail will continue to deteriorate, and a turbo that fails completely can push oil into the engine and turn a straightforward part replacement into a much more expensive job.
